Rugby
League has emerged as a growth sport in Wales
over the past few years. Whilst the 13 man games
is not a new concept to people in the Valley’s,
with Welsh clubs having involvement with League
since back in the 1890’s, League has never
enjoyed a truly stable club competition until
now.
Thanks
to the Rugby League conference competition, a
number of communities in Wales have been able
to try out League in an organised amateur competition
with minimal expense. The Rugby League conference
involves over 50 teams from around England and
Wales, broken up into conferences of six teams.
The
teams play each other within the conference, before
the top two teams of each conference enter the
final series, seeing them play other sides from
across the United Kingdom.
It
is an exciting concept, and is the perfect way
for any sports person to keep fit over the Summer
months.
Rugby
League is a safe sport, which encourages team
spirit and passion. It is a sport designed to
be played by everyone, and has a position in each
team to suit any type of individual.
If
your community or club would like to setup a side
to enter the Rugby League conference or in perhaps
another competition in Wales (pending on numbers)
please declare your interest with Neil Wood of
the Rugby Football League.

If
you just want to gauge interest over setting up
a club, add your interest to the Welsh Rugby League
forum. There may already be someone else who may
want to setup a club as well in your area, or
other players who may want to play.
